Stardoll to Disney - an evolution, or execution ?

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few days, you'll have heard of Disney's 'supposed' plans to buy our beloved Stardoll and turning it into 'Disneydoll'. Now, I personally wouldn't mind this, just because of how BIG a Disney fan I am. I may be 15, but I am still a child, and that means I love nothing more than sitting down in the afternoons and putting on the Lion King, Tarzan or Treasure Planet. I am a little nervous as to how they would change stardoll. I mean, we've all gotten used to the makeover. But, even then, many users left because they didn't like the new layout. And that was when they just changed the look, not the fundamentals of the site. Changing everything would loose millions, not just a couple, but MILLIONS of members.

Turning stardoll it into Disneydoll seems a little...narcissistic to me. For those of you who do not know what this means, it is someone who shows lots of self loving and displays a lot adoration in oneself. Disney changing the name to include them makes them look so sure of themselves and how they think this change is going to be successful. Stardoll has always had CELEBRITIES to dress up, not Disney Princesses. Stardoll is unique, and thats why it's successful. It doesn't conform to others expectations. It doesn't follow the crowd, it makes it's own trends.

Not that I'm against Disney buying Stardoll. Hey, they're Disney. Disney is like the King of animation, all other animation companies are competing for second place behind the well knowm big mouse ears. Disney deserves their crown, and even if you're not a fan you have to admit that they obviously are doing something right to have lasted number one since our parents were children. If they did buy it, I wouldn't mind if they changed the site in TINY amounts, and I mean TINY. Maybe a colour change from the normal pink, and a different logo, BUT NOT A DIFFERENT NAME. Perhaps even adding some Disney dolls. I wouldn't mind a Rapunzel doll that is available for all countries. But no name changes, and completely messing up the stardoll that we love.

No, I won't leave if Disney buys stardoll. That is my personal decision (and right now it seems that I'm the only person with this opinion). I love this site, and have since 2008. If Disney makes a farce of what was once a million member site, I probably wouldn't be online as often. But I made an account on Stardoll because I wanted to meet friends from all over the world; people who I'd never have even met without this site. That idea will not change over time.

Disney, I love you. Stardoll, I love you just as much. I wouldn't mind if they did combine. But I think it's just best to let sleeping dogs lie. Who knows, this may all be a big sham and many members will have gotten their underwear in a knot over nothing. Thus leaving the happy time when all members can un-knot their knickers and relax back into their normal stardoll routine. Lets face it people; we cannot stop it if it's going to happen. Disney is a multi-billion dollar company with many brilliant minds running it. We are but humble members of a virtual community. In the end, we all have to remember that stardoll is a business and it has to perform as a business would. If it is better to sell, then they will do so. If it is a safe bet to keep the company, then they won't sell. Only time will tell how this dilemma plays out.

Sceneries have gone bad.

Starbazzar brands

I have noticed that stardoll has put in some older brands in Starbazzar fashion..and unfortunately

have also taken out some..including DKNY! I am personally VERY dissapointed about this.
Now it will be EXTREMELY hard to find DKNY bargains! Anybody agree? Comment and

Epic much?

Isn't that look just epic?! Good afternoon, my lovelies!

What a splendidly hot and sweltering day it is in wonderful Australia, following yesterdays Australia Day celebrations. I would like to wish all you Australian readers a happy Australia day for yesterday. Now down to business. A few things have happened in the virtual world while I was at school, charging through the heat and doing my algebra and ABC's. Lets make a list shall we?



One: The hotbuys hat has been released. And my verdict is.........I love it. So different, yet stylish. It may not be able to be paired with anything, but I'm going to buy it anyway. A relatively cheap $7 (for a hot buy at least).



Two: Tangled store. Now, this one has slightly irritated me. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Tangled, and everything to do with it. But what I'm annoyed at is the fact that the other day I had to use a manual proxy to get the pink dress, and now it's all available in the stores. Guess next time I should wait a while before going to the trouble of using a manual proxy, eh?




Three: Superstar mouths. I personally am only a fan of maybe two of them, especially the nice smiling one. One thing that I do not like is how it sits on my medolls face. It sits off to to the side. But, nevertheless I will still wear it. Another thing with the mouths is this: It seems stardolls staff actually DO pay attention. No doubt you have seen medolls with mouths like this: Now, look what stardoll has given superstars:
A mouth, that is a version of what medolls all over this popular site have been sporting for sometime now. Bravo stardoll, you have my applause for paying attention. And my praise for actually doing something to improve the look of the dolls.


Four: Stardoll is having a starplaza sale! I know I'll be buying lots of bargains. But, I think I've come up with a theory. I believe that stardoll holds their sales at the end of the month when most users have earned all their $70 stardollars of play and earn money. Coincidence? Or not?

YAY! There's an awesome new brand called Tokyo Pop Shop:

It's really cool but some of the stuff is really weird. It would be pretty hard finding a way to use some of these items. I quite like them though especially the hanging crane thingy majigy things. (It that a word?)

You can also buy the interior! I LOVE IT!

I think it is amazing and modern! An awesome change SD really needed!!!

D: Devastated much?

I was recently updating my presentation, at the very end after I deleted all my LOOKS photos, it would not let me re-add them and keep the presentation that I'm currently using. I'm a little annoyed at this. But I guess, life is life. And my life is not going to stop because something virtual ticked me off. I'm afraid I'm no longer doing to '5 looks in five days' at the moment. Maybe in the future I will once again continue this project. But right now, it's time to focus on school.

Tangled items.

Logging onto good ol' stardoll this afternoon, after a long day of monotony, I head straight to the starplaza, to see whats new. Well, whats new is TANGLED. Everywhere I looked in the stores, I saw Tangled. Tangled here, Tangled there, Tangled EVERYWHERE. And I love it.



The dress is the only item that's superstar. All the hairs are $8, the chair is $6, shoes $4, dresser $10, dress $10, hair brush $3.

I'm not sure how long these items will last, so buy now before they're gone! I know I did.

School - A rant.

When I think of school, the word monotony comes to mind. For those of you who don't know what this means, it is the quality of wearisome constancy, routine, and lack of variety. We go to school, we do our classes, get assignments, eat lunch and come home. Every week day. Gosh, the excitement of it just gets my heart pumping. I'm just kidding with you all. I hate it. But, like you all, I have to go. If I had my way, I'd sit at home all day stardolling, listening to my show tunes and watching classic Disney films. But, alas, life is cruel and I must go be an individual amongst the sameness at my school.



Anyway, I am writing this rant to tell you all that I return to monotony tomorrow, meaning that study comes before stardoll. I WILL keep posting for this wonderful blog, but just not as often, as I am entering my second last year of high school and this means WORK.

Elites?

Ever heard of Stardoll Elites?

Everyone wants to be one but very limited actually are one.

From my understanding Elites are Elites because they have a successful blog, magazine, club.. etc.

Stardoll wasn't made for 'Elites' and people to be put in groups like in the real world.

This site was made for fun but look what we've turned it into?

We have our own world that we have to survive in. Just like real life.

This Stardoll world we have made is hard to survive in. 

Non-Superstars don't get very far.. 

Superstars who have been on for a while and know how to dodge most of this are normally the Elites.

Then there's just the Superstars (Or Royalties). We struggle to be Elites.

What's your opinion on 'Elites'?

The hot buys Cotton Bag is now in stores! I suppose it's alright, if your a cat person. The graphics could have been better, but nevertheless, hot buys collectors are going to buy it. It's in the Pretty in Pink store, and its a pricey $9.

Different looks - New idea?

Do you all know how some people do the whole 'for every day of the year I'm going to take a picture, thus making a photo album consisting of 365 different photos'? Yeah, well I thought I'd try that. But my version. I'm doing '5 looks in five days' (just because I've got to go back to school soon, I'll keep it at a small number. If this is a hit, I will increase the days). Well I went to vote design today and I was voted and I realised the ones I was voting for were the ones that are the winners. So I kept on voting new pieces but it kept on giving me ones that were the winners so no wonder they're winning. Check this out:

Glitch?!

 

 I recently noticed that ELLE had disappeared from StarBazzar Fashion..But it is now back!!

THANKS GOODNESS!! Do you think this was a glitch? or do u think stardoll might have gotten complaints about getting rid of it? 

But I still CAN NOT believe they took out Philosophy and Jordache :(
